Hello and welcome to today’s show of the book reviewing featuring new book twilight. A New York Times editor’s choice and an Amazon best book of the decade...so far. I, kiril, will be your guide for today talk/review about the new and amazing book that just came out called Twilight that was written by Stephanie Meyer. It is a fiction book and takes place in forks Washington. Today we will talk about the characters and how the author makes them interesting.
When a seventeen year old girl, Bella, goes to live in forks it turns out terrible but soon she makes friends and falls in love with this boy Edward. Over a period amount of time she finds out he is a vampire and gets in a vampire hunt where a vampire attempts to kill a human. She falls in love, with a vampire, and is soon going to be killed what she will do?
Bella the protagonist of the story is about 5 feet tall has long hair. Her body is not muscular but rather slender. She has deep brown eyes and has short fingernails because she likes to bite them when she is nervous. She has an active personality but takes things seriously. “and you left a dent in the other car-and you aren’t hurt at all-and the van should’ve smashed my legs-but...I could hear how crazy it sounded...tears came through my eyes”(64 Stephanie Meyer). It shows that she takes thing always seriously. The author does not like to describe her but rather other characters saying how nice she looks and in those phrases the readers fully understands how she looks and her personality. In the beginning of the book there was no description of any kind of her but slowly other characters unveil her, personality.
Edward the protagonist is more of a romantic shy person. Is muscular, has copper like hair and blue eyes. He lived for around 90 years (since vampires live forever) and is still good looking. The author writes about him as though he is some kind of secret. Since Bella was the narrator of the story when she first saw him, nothing was known about him.
The author makes the characters interesting by making interesting problems for the character to solve. Every chapter something happens and one of them needs to do something about it. There are many examples like when Bella was being stalked by a vampire called James, or when a gang wanted to kill her. All of these problems get solved in the end but the process of happening makes it fun to read about the characters. “ Because longing against the other side of the building, midway down the street, were the other two men from the group, both watching me with exited smiles…I realized I was being herded” (Stephanie Meyer 160). So there you go a problem which she had gotten into, she needs to solve it now and that’s what makes the characters so interesting. If it was a boring character the way the character would get out of the problem would be boring to.
Stephanie Meyer also makes her characters interesting but making them interact with each other. When the characters interact we get to know more about them and it creates a good story. If it wasn’t for the interesting dialogue the characters say the book would go from best book to the worst book ever published in history. “Are we there yet? I teased, pretending to scowl.”Nearly”. He smiled at the change of my mood…He smirked “maybe it’s a bit soon for your eyes”. “Time to visit the optometrist” (Stephanie Meyer 258) did you notice that one small dialogue between the characters can show so much. You can tell by that how much they like each other and it’s quite interesting to read. Stephanie Meyer is really good at writing books.
Also Stephanie Meyer describes the characters very well. She described it so well anybody could just take a piece of paper and draw the character. If somebody else was to draw the character they would get the same picture. That’s how good she writes. She makes the characters like there really alive. The description really makes the characters fun to read. Bella is very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.” Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line” (Stephanie Meyer http://www.twillighhtseries.com) Best book on the planet best characters on the planet.
Stephanie Meyer writes her characters very well but Bella needs some personnel work. In the book all she thinks about is Edward. All of her things she does are because of Edward. Bella has no interest personnel hobbies… If I could change the book in any way I w could mention her doing some of the things she likes to do. She has given up on her hopes and dreams and is a boring character in the specific area. When Edward comes we see him doing his hobbies but Bella does nothing. “You are my life now” (Stephanie Meyer 314). “You will be watching…we will be playing baseball. Vampires like
