Resolved Question: What does the term "Regency" mean in reference to a fanfiction?

I'm kinda confused. I've seen it around a bit, and I'm not sure what it means. I read mostly historical fictions, like Jane Austen take-offs, and it's been used to describe a few of them. Will someone please tell me what it means?
